Outcomes Star and difficult conversations training

Boosting the understanding and skills needed to manage difficult conversations when using the Outcomes Star

From completing an Outcomes Star to using the Star in keywork, there can be a variety of difficult conversations to manage.

This half-day course is designed to build on the key skills from the core Star training to support workers in managing difficult conversations well. It draws on the principles of Motivational Interviewing and introduces a range of techniques to use when working with people. During the course, participants will consider what constitutes a difficult conversation within their work and consider what may be useful before, during and after having these conversations. Participants will have the opportunity to practise a number of techniques and consider the pros and cons of using these within their work.

This course is designed for keyworkers who have already completed core Star training and who have already been using the Outcomes Star with service users for a period of time. The course will be run in-house at an organisation for a maximum of 16 participants per session.
